Support for Multicultural Family

Childcare Support

  • As of March 2010, Jung-gu Office began to support child care fees for stable living and early settlement of multicultural families
  • Qualification
    • Children who were born between one spouse having emigrated and married (including those who obtained naturalization permission) and the other spouse who obtained Korean nationality at birth are eligible regardless as to whether the spouses form the same household.
    • Children who were born between one spouse who has emigrated and married (including those who obtained naturalization permission) and ex-spouses, with the exception of the other spouse, who obtained Korean nationality at birth, are eligible only if they currently live together as a multicultural family in the same household. In such a case, the subsidy shall only be granted to children whose nationality is Korean.

Provision of Childbirth Grant and Childbirth Subsidy

Provision of Childbirth Grant

  • Eligible Applicants
    • A father or mother in a multicultural family with his/ her resident registration at the Jung-gu district of Busan can receive a “family” grant from the date of birth of their first child (a minimum residence period is not necessary) and their brothers and sisters (a residence of 6 months or more is required).
  • Details
    • First child: 200 thousand won (one-off grant)
    • Second child: 600 thousand won (payment in 3 installments)
    • Third (or ore) mchild: 3 million won (payment in 6 installments)
    • The receipent can first reveive the first grant. Then, from the second grant to the final grant, 500 thousand won will be provided every month on the last day of the designated month.
    • At each payment day, the applicants are required to be residing in Jung-gu.
  • Where to Apply: the designated Community Center (a bankbook copy of mother or father is required)
  • Conditions
    • No minimum residence period (for the first child)
    • Residence of 6 months or more for the second (or more) child (father of mother)
  • Application Deadline: Within 6 months from the delivery date

Provision of Childbirth Subsidy

  • Eligible Applicants
    • Families who have given birth to a second child, or more, and have been living in Busan Metropolitan City for at least 1 month or more prior to the delivery date of the child.
  • Details
    • Family giving birth to a second child: 500 thousand won awarded as adelivery celebration subsidy/ 2 installments, 300 thousand & 200 thousand)
    • Family giving birth to a third (or more) child: 1.5 million won awarded as a delivery celebration subsidy/ 12 tinstallments (300 thousand(1), 200 thousand(1), 100 thousand(10))

Health Care for Pregnant Women

  • Regular prenatal care for pregnant women among married immigrant women
  • Prenatal Care
    • Early pregnancy anemia tests, syphilis tests, antibodies test for hepatitis B, urinalysis, AIDS test, rubella test, Note, maternity diary, baby diary
    • Support for folic acid (Until the 12th week once pregnancy is confirmed)
    • Support for Iron supplements after the 16th week of pregnancy
    • Health Management Program for Pregnant Women by Korea Population, Health and Welfare Assocation
      • Vaccination of Pertussis: 27th week ~ 36th week
      • Prenatal Care before birth: 34th week ~ 36th week
  • Postpartum Care
    • Guidance for programs for pregnant womens and babies/children
    • Check for the health of pregnant wemon after the baby’s birth
    • Campaign for breat-feeding
    • Provision of Information on the postpartum depression test, if necessary
