Detailed introduction

The Busan Christmas Tree Culture Festival, held in December for the pleasure of citizens and tourists and the revival of old downtown, was held for the first time in 2009 with 3 million visitors attending the festival and becoming one of Busan’s representative winter festivals. The festival has been held successfully since then, every year.

In 2011, the festival venue was extended to the intersection of the Gukje Market and it gave citizens and tourist more chances to see more spectacles. As a result, it received the Grand Prize as the 2011 Asia Pacific City Tourism Promotion Organization (TPO) Festival. The festival is more meaningful because of voluntary participation of the Gwangbok-ro stores, residents and dedicated festival volunteers.

The Christmas Tree Festival is not simply tree decorations, but tree decorations with themes. A variety of cultural performances suitable for winter season delights the citizens and tourists who visit Gwangbok-ro.

As the years go by, we will try to expand the range of citizen participation and prepare more distinctive themes and design to delight the citizens and tourists who visit Gwangbok-ro.
