Detailed introduction
The 40 Steps were located in Jung-gu, Busan, which used to be the center of transportation and administration during the Korea War in 1950 and many refugees lived in shacks around them. The steps were used as a place to sell relief supplies coming from a pier in the front and was a well-known place to reunite families separated during the evacuation. It was used as a backdrop for the song “Gyeongsangdo Agassi” which was sung by Park Jaehong in 1951. The 40 steps used to be one of the most welcoming place for more than 100,000 refugees who lived on the hill of Yoeongju-dong, Dongkwang-dong, and Bosu-dong areas.
