Minju Park is a symbolic place that commemorates the struggle for democracy and provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the past, present, and future. Minju Park is a hallowed place that pays tribute to the noble sprit of Busan citizens as they rose up to struggle for democracy and made a great contribution to the development of the nation in modern times. This was a period of rapid changes and great upheaval and comemorates very significant events [4.19 Democratic Revolution], the [Buma Democratic Uprising] and the [June Democracy Movement]. Minju Park is a place where we can stop to admire and assess the history of democratic movements in Busan and commemorates the universal values of democracy as a form of government where mankind can enjoy basic rights, including the right to pursue happiness. Minju Park focuses on the fact that it was ordinary men and women who struggled for human dignity and democracy and the park stands as a tribute to the noble sprit of Busan citizens as they sought to establish universal rights, democracy, and a better life.

The park features sculptures that symbolize the democratic sprit of the Busan citizens, a spirit gained through bitter struggle against Japanese, the 4.19 Democratic Revolution, the 10.16 Buma Uprising and the June Democracy Movement. It is a historical place that exhibits various relics and artifacts related to democratic movement such as sculptures, poems, paintings, and photographs. Here, visitors can enjoy the greatness of democracy, human dignity and freedom.

Minju Park, opened on October 16, 1999, on the 20th anniversary of the Buma Democratic Uprising. It has an area of 20,337㎡ (6.152 pyeong), one basement level, three stories and a total floor area of 5,278㎡(1,600 pyeong).

Various exhibitions, lectures, forums, cultural and art performances, and film screenings are held in its exhibition halls, indoor theaters and outdoor theaters in order to realize the spirit of democratic uprising today. In addition to highlighting the democratic uprising of Busan, the park has been used as a space for researching and educating our society today in its research rooms and data rooms.
