Detailed introduction
The Entertainer Street expresses a story of abundant historical and cultural assets. The street ranges from BIFF Square to the Gwangbok rest area and is within 630m of old downtown. In order to connect Youngdusan Park, Gwangbok-ro and Yeongdo Bridge, and Jagalchi Market, the project was launched in June 2016 and was completed on September 13, 2017.
The Entertainer Street is divided into three sections. The first section is from BIFF Square and the shoe repair shop alley. There is an installed shoe-shaped cooper plate to relate the story of the shoe repair shop alley and a copper floor bearing foot prints of Busan’s entertainers.
The second section, from Seoul Kkadugi to Gudeok-ro was constructed with a stargate and dandelion sculptures as a street of passion of the stars of Busan. At the stargate, we can see images of entertainers who are born or have mainly worked in Busan. The dandelion sculptures commemorate the pain of cultural artists who flocked to Busan: the capital of refuge and the seeds of modern Busan art.
The final section consists of a mosaic gallery of citizen entertainers from the national singing contest, a zone of pen and ink drawings of cafes and pub culture, and a music room in which music was popular from the 1950s to 1980s.
For the Entertainer Street, a lot of stars from various fields and generations participated in related events. They include Song Hae who has a deep connection with Busan, Director and an honorary Jung-gu resident Yoon Jaegyun who directed the Korean movie ‘Gukje Market’, Busan’s entertainers Cho Jinwoong, Jang Hyuk, Jung Eunji, Jung Yonghwa. Also the members of ‘Dream of Seagull’ which is a social gathering of Busan entertainers: Sul Undo, Byun Woomin, Kim Jungtae, Ji Daehan, Yoon Hyungbin, Kim Wonhyo, and Han Sunhwa participated.
