The district has the Megabox Busan Theater 1~3, and 4~8, Lotte Cinema Daeyoung, and CGV Nampo-dong on Nampo-dong street. The district became established with theaters after the 8·15 liberation of Korea, when there were only one or two theaters, and in the 1960s there were about 20 theaters concentrated in the area.
BIFF Square is the center stage of the Busan International Film Festival and it is the region of Nampo-dong and Bupyeong-dong in Jung-gu, Busan. Since 1996, the Busan International Film Festival has been held and the theater district has been renovated and named as BIFF Square (Feb. 24, 2011).
