Detailed introduction

The Bupueong Kkangtong market emerged as a natural outgrowth of the US army station after the Korean War. Military goods and all kinds of other goods were smuggled, especially various canned foods such as fruits and fish. For this reason, the name of the market is Kkangtong (can) Market.

Although the market was named after selling many canned products that flowed from the US military in the beginning, it now also handles s alcohol, clothing, decorations, accessories, fashion goods, and some foreign electronic products.

In October 2013, it opened as the first night market in Korea and became a representative night attraction of Busan. The night market attracts domestic and foreign tourist and has been a successful model for the revitalization of traditional markets.

From the beginning, the Bupyeong Kkangtong Night Market has provided business licences to less privileged people such as multicultural households and disabled people. That is a practice of sharing that grows the economy with local people.
In addition, as the first permanent night market, it has regarded as a successful case and attracted about 7,000 for weekends or holidays.
