Detailed introduction
The Chosun Tongsinsa Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange Festival is an event that has been held since 2002 to reenact the Korean missions to Japan, which was a symbol of peaceful diplomacy and cultural exchanges between Korea and Japan from 1607 to 1811. You can see the festival in Yongdusan Park and Gwangbok-ro every May.
The ceremony is held in the form of a dramatic ceremony in which the Dangnae Magistrate welcomes three delegates of the Chosun Tongsinsa in the wake of a traditional arts performance of Korea and Japan.
The highlight of this festival is a reenactment of a street performance by the Korea-Japan art troupe and a procession involving about 2,000 people including domestic and foreign cultural and artistic organizations and civic groups.
From Yongdusan Park through the Modern History Museum, through Daegaksa Temple, to the entrance to the Gwangbok-ro, a procession is led by the Dangnae Magistrate and the Chosun Tongsinsa. We invite diverse art groups from Korea-Japan relations and provide various attractions to entertain tourists on the streets.
In addition, the festival offers performances, special exhibitions, academic conferences, and trial programs.
